Animation Extractor

Hey! This is a simple script I use in my day to day workflow when working with large anim sets in Maya or bringing in poses and animation I want on their own override layers.

  1. Select all controls on your rig

  2. Hit the “Extract” button - Your animation will now be put on a override layer above the BaseAnimation layer

  3. Hit the Export Layer button - save your layer into a library directory

  4. Hit the import button to bring in any previously exported layered anims on their own override layer

    You can use this as a “take” tool for having entire anim sets in the one Maya file on separate layers, or simply use it as a way to sample poses and blend animations together, blend in and out of idle poses, reference against previous versions of the same animation.
